Stephen KisielEducation and Training

Dr. Kisiel received his Doctor of Osteopathy degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, New York, after receiving a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Springfield College. He went on to serve a one-year Osteopathic Rotating Internship at Berkshire Medical Center from 2001-2002. From BMC he continued on with his medical residency training at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Family Practice and Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine/Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (NMM/OMM) leading to board certification in both fields. He served as Chief Resident in this program which was conducted in association with Southern Maine Medical Center.  Dr. Kisiel has been actively training in hands-on Traditional Osteopathy under the mentorship of James Jealous, DO since 1997.

Dr. Kisiel is a member of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, American Academy of Family Physicians, Massachusetts Osteopathic Society, American Osteopathic Association, American Academy of Osteopathy and the Cranial Academy.

Dr. Kisiel has a strong interest in providing quality medical care to underserved populations both at home and abroad. He actively participated in the Biddeford Free Clinic in Biddeford, Maine and has been on numerous Medical/Humanitarian aid missions to Haiti, Jamaica and Guatemala organized through the Springfield College Newman Community and DO Care International.


Berkshire Osteopathic Health of BMC

Upon completing his residency training in 2005, Dr. Kisiel returned to the Berkshires and opened the private practice Berkshire Osteopathic Health.  Dr. Kisiel is an osteopathic physician who is board-certified in both Family Medicine and Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine/Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine. His practice focuses on an Osteopathic approach to primary care medicine using hands-on osteopathic treatments to assist the body in healing along with current medical therapy when appropriate. He also sees patients in consultation for Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine specialty services and welcomes patients of all ages ~ newborns through adults.  In 2015 BOH joined Berkshire Medical Center and continues as Berkshire Osteopathic Health of BMC.


Berkshire Healing Arts

In 2008, Dr. Kisiel formed Berkshire Healing Arts, a community of independent practitioners with a common orientation toward health healing and wellness, with a focus on providing the local community with both current medical and complementary health care solutions.  BHA brings together in the same location Osteopathic and Integrative Medical Care, Acupuncture, Nutritional Services, Massage Therapy, Holistic Psychotherapy, Hypnosis and Yoga.


Continuing Osteopathic Medical Education

Dr. Kisiel is involved in both undergraduate and graduate medical education at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNECOM) and Berkshire Medical Center.  He serves as the Regional Assistant Dean for UNECOM at Berkshire Medical Center and holds a UNECOM Faculty Appointment as Assistant Clinical Professor of Family Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine.  Dr. Kisiel oversees the medical education for 3rd and 4th year Osteopathic Medical Students completing their clinical clerkships at Berkshire Medical Center.  He is the Osteopathic Director of Medical Education at BMC where he also works as the Program Director for the AOA Rotating Internship and NMM/OMM Plus-One Residency Program.   Osteopathic Medical Students, Interns and Residents frequently work alongside Dr. Kisiel and the other practitioners at Berkshire Osteopathic Health to learn hands-on osteopathic manipulation skills in treating all types of medical conditions.


Traditional Osteopathic Teaching

Dr. Kisiel has been teaching osteopathic work both nationally and internationality since 2009 and is on the teaching faculty for the Biodynamics of Osteopathy program developed by James Jealous, DO, BioBasics NHBerkshire Osteopathic Study Group, Swiss Osteopathic Center for Kids and the Bavarian Pediatric School and Clinic for Traditional Osteopathy.
